Season greetings

THE month has kicked off with some nice weather for ducks... and salmon anglers.
The longer spells of rain meant a much-needed lift in the water for the salmon making their way up and for the fishermen trying to intercept them along the way.
Weeks of dry, warm and low conditions are replaced by a reliable rainfall sweeping in sees the rivers starting to run high and cool.
This stirs up hunkered down fish and lets fresh ones into the system, meaning it can be a good time to chase some silver.
The Tay report said "This can potentially be a productive month on many of Scotland's salmon rivers, including the mighty Tay.
"The weather had an autumnal feel last week with frequent showers and even some longer spells of rain.
"Despite the conditions at the beginning of the week, there was some good sport to be had on the river on most days."
