FERRARI chief Frederic Vasseur has confessed the team were ‘stupid’ to think Lewis Hamilton's switch from Mercedes would be seamless.

The 40-year-old shocked Formula One by leaving Mercedes - where he spent 12 years and claimed six of his seven world titles - to join the Scuderia this season. But the Brit has endured a frustrating start to life in red, still waiting for his first podium of the year and sitting just sixth in the drivers’ standings. He even branded himself “useless” during the recent Hungarian Grand Prix but Vasseur took the blame.
