Butland has had enough of constant upheaval and insists Martin is man to bring back the good times for Gers
IN just over two years at Rangers he’s now played under FIVE different managers.
And Jack Butland has had enough of it.
After being signed by Michael Beale, he then worked with Steven Davis - who had a short spell in interim charge - and Philippe Clement at Ibrox.
When the Belgian was binned, Barry Ferguson took temporary charge. Now, in his third season at the club, he’s a key part of Russell Martin's new-look squad.
And Butland firmly believes the new gaffer is the right man to bring the good times back to Rangers.
That's why he’s urged players and fans alike to back their boss and trust what he’s trying to do.
Butland was as honest as ever last night ahead of the Champions League qualifying round second-leg against Viktoria Plzen.
Martin's men are 3-0 up in the tie and have to finish the job. But it was impossible not to reflect on the teams poor start in the Scottish Premiership where they failed to beat Motherwell and Dundee in their first two games putting Martin under pressure even this early in his Ibrox tenure.
Butland is as frustrated as any fans about their lack of domestic success. And he knows the players can't pull the wool over fans’ eyes for much longer.
But he's absolutely adamant that - to achieve what they want - they MUST back the manager and stick to his plan.
If they do that, he’s convinced they'll eventually get to where they want to be.
Butland said: "I want to be successful here - I don't want to see any more managers come and go. I've been here long enough and the fans aren't stupid. They need results and we need results.
