A YOUNG woman has been left with permanent bladder damage after spending £35,000 on ketamine since she was a teen.
-
Ellie Wight’s drug agony started when she was 16 by smoking cannabis every day before switching to ketamine two years later because it was cheap and easy to access.
She said it made her feel “warm” and “nice”.
It started at weekends, but she was soon sneaking it daily, and sank to just 8st 10lb after the drug robbed her of her appetite.
After growing addicted to the class B drug, she was soon spending £35,000 over two years and contracted “ketamine bladder”.
At her worst Ellie, of Drumoak in Aberdeenshire, was taking 1/8oz every day for £40 a day.
Now 23, she has permanent bladder damage.
Ellie, who turned her life around from her ketamine addiction and wants to help others, started support group Safe Space Ketamine Recovery to help addicts, said: “When I started having bladder issues, it was more like an urgency to pee and a lot of pain, and not being able to hold it.
“If I didn't make it to the toilet, I'd have to pee myself as the pain was so bad I just couldn't hold it any more.
