MP CALLS FOR END TO HOTELS POLICY

LABOUR MP Joani Reid has called for an end to “disastrous” asylum hotels in Scotland after a damning MPs’ report said £6billion had been squandered.

Asylum seekers were housed in hotels by the previous Tory government from 2019, a practice continued under Labour. But protests have taken place outside the hotels, including in Falkirk and Perth, and Labour is committed to ending their use by 2029.
