BOB MACINTYRE has opened an exciting new option for Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald.

The Scottish star's rapid progression into the elite ranks has provided more opportunity for the head of Europe's team.

MacIntyre was a rookie in Rome two years ago and utilised only in fourball matches alongside partner Justin Rose through the opening two days of the success at Marco Simeone Golf Club.

However, his ascent to world No.9 and statistical improvement in all aspects of his play have offered the captain an additional weapon in his armoury and planning for Bethpage.
