JOE: ENGLISH ARE NOW JOF AND RUNNING
Daily Record
|July 12, 2025
JOE ROOT paid tribute to speed-king Jofra Archer for bringing the X-factor back to England's bowling attack.
Archer is playing his first Test match in more than four years following a string of cruel injuries.
And he took out his frustrations on India - by taking a wicket with just the third ball of his first over to light up Lord's.
India closed day two on 145-3, looking to make inroads into England's first innings total of 387 all out.
Archer clocked speeds of almost 94mph - and wasted no time in having Yashasvi Jaiswal caught at second slip.
English ace Archer wheeled away to celebrate, before being mobbed by his teammates.
And Root, who completed his 37th Test century to move up to fifth on the all-time list, admits the return of Archer is a huge boost.
