Norwegian new boy announces himself in style as a dazzling double dumps Dundee to keep up chase for silverware this term
YOU can always rely on a Sander to provide a really polished finish.
The Hearts ace last night served up two of them to help the Gorgie men glide into the Scottish Cup semi-finals.
Sander Kartum did say he wanted to provide goals when he arrived from Brann in January.
The playmaker was good as his word with a couple of crackers either side of Simon Murray's unfortunate own goal to dump the Dens Park men out of the competition.
Tony Docherty’s struggling Taysiders were level at one point when Joe Shaughnessy made it 1-1 early in the second half.
Dundee were decent enough in spells - but their dodgy defending turned their hopes to dust again. It could have been even worse if not for keeper Trevor Carson.
They've now conceded 70 goals in all competitions this term and they'll need to shore up if they are to avoid a lot more pain this season than exiting the Scottish Cup.
Hearts can dream of Hampden - and lifting the trophy again. Neil Critchley’s side banished the crushing disappointment of defeat to their nearest and dearest at Easter Road last weekend with a thumping win.
And smooth Sander's showing made sure there were no rough edges in a slick win.
The former Norwegian player of the year’s first goal for the club was a corker - and his second was every bit as good.
Critchley revealed in the build-up hed been swotting up on Hearts’ Scottish Cup history and he'll now fancy his chances of penning a new chapter.
It’s been a strange old season for both these sides.
