Michael's a good man. I have a really good relationship with him and Chris (McKay, finance chief), because they're the guys that I deal with day-to-day.

“So, yes, we all know what it is we need to assess and look at and be better at.

“As I said, you look at Sebastian (Tounekti) today. If we had him in when we wanted to, it could have been a different story for us.

“He was outstanding. These are all things that we need to find clarity on and be better at.

“But in the meantime the concentration is on football. There is nothing to discuss on that now.

“I think once the market closed, my intention now is to focus on the football.

“There are other things that are not for airing or briefing now.

“It’s been a summer of learning I’m sure, but going forward now my concentration is purely on the team and managing this situation”

Celtic fans staged a 12-minute protest and chanted against the board for much of the 90-plus minutes at Rugby Park.

But Rodgers was just relieved to park the drama and return to the top of the table.

He said: “I’m very satisfied.
