Help to make sure OAPs do stay warm this winter
Daily Record
|November 05, 2025
In Scotland, the Winter Fuel Payment has been replaced by the Pension Age Winter Heating Payment.
-
This annual payment helps OAPs with the cost of keeping warm in winter.
Don't worry about the change, as most people who qualify don't need to do anything, and the payment will be made automatically. You should get a letter confirming how much you'll get. Payments usually start this month, and should go into the same bank account where you get your state pension or other benefits. The amount you'll receive depends on your age, who you live with, and whether you get income-related benefits.
As a general guide, if you live alone you'll usually receive £203.40 if you're aged between 66 and 79, rising to £305.10 if you're 80 or older.
