Residents demand police action after passer-by attacked with bottle near hovel >> Plans for more rooms at 'drugs hotspot' condemned by mum of overdose victim
LOSS Frankie McVean died from street valium overdose
FURIOUS residents are demanding a halt of expansion plans for a "hellhole hotel" after a young man was violently assaulted.
The resident, of Balvicar Drive in Glasgow, was set upon by a man staying at the notorious Queens Park Hotel, used to house homeless people, who hit him on the head with a bottle.
The incident in January was one of the latest in an escalating crime toll that residents claim has wrecked life on the formerly quiet street.
The hotel has been in the spotlight over an alarming number of overdose deaths and claims that blatant drug dealing has been a daily reality.
An email recently sent to Police Scotland reveals the growing despair of people living next to the hotel, which has seen workmen moving in to make more rooms and cram in more residents.
The increased use of hotels like the Queens Park, by Glasgow City Council, has been caused by ever-rising levels of homelessness.
One resident told the Record: "The endless incidents are really getting people down.
"Police said they are requesting extra assistance for the area. We are always being promised that they will do their best, all to no avail."
