Goal hero Adams reveals angry blast from history maker Clarke set Scots on course
CHE ADAMS fired Scotland on their way to victory - but claimed it was an angry blast from Steve Clarke that really kept them on course for the World Cup finals.
The Torino striker opened the scoring in the hard-fought and far-from-pretty 2-1 Hampden win over Belarus.
It got the job done to ensure Scotland kept pace with group leaders Denmark, and are now guaranteed a playoff slot.
Adams’ goal sent his side in 1-0 at halftime but it didn't save them from their manager's wrath — and Adams revealed it is the angriest he has seen him.
It was a night on which Clarke made history, having taken charge of 72 Scotland games and set a new record in the process.
And he showed he hasn't lost any of his passion to end that 28-year wait and get the nation back to a World Cup.
Adams said: “We got much more to give, as I said, as you know, two poor performances, but two positive results, so that’s what that matters in the end.
“[Clarke] was not a happy chap at halftime but I think he was right.
“I think it was just a bit of frustration, wanting the team to do better and perform better for the fans.
