Paris pain has made Josh even more fired up for 1500m title defence
-
JOSH KERR knows he's there to be shot at, to have his world title wrestled away.
"I'm sitting here with the crown on my head," the Scot declares. But he intends to extend his reign and be a king of the track again when his 1500 metres bid begins tonight at the World Athletics Championships.
Two years on from his glory run to gold in Budapest, the 27-year-old would never dream of talking down his chances of a repeat one bit.
He's as confident as ever after months of gruelling graft at his base in the mountains of New Mexico - all with the next five days in Tokyo in mind.
But Kerr's also driven by failure, by the three minutes and 27 seconds in Paris last summer when he became the fastest man in British history but walked off the Olympic track with silver, not gold.
Stunned in the home straight by American outsider Cole Hocker, missing out on the biggest title of them all has thrown a tank of fuel on the fire to enflame his ambitions of torching his rivals in Japan.
