Celts sign Adamu and Mvuka for title push as they KO £25m Arne bid and eye a stunning swoop for Ox

CELTIC have snapped up attackers Junior Adamu and Joel Mvuka for their title push - after fending off a £25million bid for Arne Engels.

And the Hoops were also working late to draft in highly-rated 20-year-old Brentford centre-back Benjamin Arthur for the remainder of the campaign.

Celtic spent a frantic deadline day chasing targets and it could rumble on beyond the window with the Parkhead club also understood to be interested in a stunning bid to land free agent Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The former Liverpool and Arsenal ace has been without a club since leaving Besiktas last summer but has been training with the Gunners ahead of a return.

Oxlade-Chamberlain can move outwith the window and there is significant interest from several clubs in England.

Adamu was confirmed earlier on yesterday evening but Celts were made to sweat for Mvuka.

The Lorient wide man's move suffered a late hitch when issues flagged up in the 23-year-old's medical required further investigation.
