Director-general and news CEO leave over Trump speech edits

BELEAGUERED Beeb boss Tim Davie has resigned over a scandal involving edited footage of a Donald Trump speech.

His shock decision last night followed concerns about impartiality. In a message to staff, Davie, 58, said he had to take the ultimate responsibility for mistakes.

News CEO Deborah Turness, 58, also announced she was resigning, saying controversy around a Panorama episode on the US President “has reached a stage where it is causing damage to the BBC - an institution that I love”.
