WELSH MUSIC LEGEND DAFYDD IWAN BLASTS ANTI-ASYLUM SEEKER GROUP FOR USING HIS CLASSIC ‘YMA 0 HYD’ TO PROMOTE THEIR MARCH

Veteran folk singer Dafydd Iwan has objected vigorously to the use of his song Yma O Hyd to promote an anti-asylum seeker protest organised by the group Wrexham Unite.

WELSH folk music legend Dafydd Iwan has told organisers of an anti-asylum seekers protest to stop using his song.

The protest singer is a cult hero in Wales with his most famous anthem ‘Yma o Hyd’ a firm favourite amongst fans at Welsh football and rugby matches.

But he is angry that the song is being used to promote a march opposing proposed asylum seeker accommodation in the Wrexham area.

A group called Wrexham Unite is organising the protest in the city centre at midday this Saturday with discussions ongoing with police to finalise the details.
