READERS SPLIT OVER CONTROVERSIAL ANGLESEY RESORT SCHEME... BUT MOST BACK ITS LOCAL OPPONENTS
Penrhos Coastal Park
READERS have been responding to the news that Parc Penthos, a picturesque coastal sanctuary on Anglesey, is back on the market after the owners went into administration in May 2025.
As reported in Saturday's Daily Post, The 79th Group had acquired the 200-acre nature reserve just four months prior, with plans for a £250m holiday resort.
Residents, who have campaigned for 15 years against development, are dismayed and the Save Penrhos Coastal Park (SPCP) group is urging Anglesey Council to refuse any extension to the existing planning permission, which is due to lapse in April 2026.
The site, along with sections of Cae Glas Nature Reserve, is being marketed as an “exceptional opportunity” for a “flagship leisure destination” However, SPCP argues that the original planning consent is outdated due to more recent environmental and heritage regulations.
While no renewal applications have been submitted, the council believes the administrators intend to submit all required details by April 2026.
