RUBEN AMORIM has revealed he appreciated Sir Jim Ratcliffe saying that he should be given three years in charge of Manchester United.

- By STEVEN RAILSTON

Ratcliffe made an appearance on The Business podcast during the international break, discussing Amorim's future, the media narrative around the club and the alleged decline of the academy.

The United co-owner said of Amorim: "He has not had the best of seasons. Ruben needs to demonstrate he is a great coach over three years. That's where I would be."

Asked if the Glazers had told him to sack the head coach, Ratcliffe replied: "It's not going to happen."

Amorim was quizzed about Ratcliffe's comments during his pre-Liverpool press conference and said: "He tells me all the time sometimes with a message after games, but you know, I know and Jim knows that football is not like that.

"The most important thing is the next game. You cannot control the next day. But it is really good to hear that. But also because of the noise.
