Police make arrest amid football 'assault' probe

Daily Post

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident at a football match in North Wales.

- By ANDREW FORGRAVE

An online video of the clash caused outrage when it was widely shared on social media.

Footage from the match, on Saturday, January 17, showed an incident involving a Trearddur Bay player and CPD Porthmadog forward Danny Brookwell. Danny was seen to tumble to the ground and his club has since confirmed he was treated for concussion.

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) is understood to be looking into the matter. Trearddur Bay FC yesterday named the player responsible on its Facebook page, saying he had been suspended with "immediate effect". The club said it "in no way condones the use of unlawful behaviour by its staff or players".
