HOLGATE: EVERTON DON'T WANT TO BE PART OF A RELEGATION SCRAP BUT IT WAS SPECIAL

Mason Holgate celebrates survival with Frank Lampard in 2022
MASON Holgate may have called time on his 10-year spell at Everton in the summer but he will never forget what happened in his last sustained run in the Blues team.
The defender joined Everton in August 2015 in a £2m deal after a breakthrough season at Barnsley when he won the then League One outfit's Young Player of the Year award.
Holgate would spend the next decade at the Blues, making 150 appearances and scoring five goals, although his final two seasons at the club were largely spent out on loan, at Southampton, Sheffield United and, for the second time in his career, at West Brom.
Now playing for Qatari club Al Gharafa, the 29-year-old has been reflecting on his time on Merseyside and in particular the dramatic conclusion to the 2021-22 season when Frank Lampard's side secured their survival in the penultimate match of the campaign with a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Crystal Palace on an unforgettable night at Goodison Park.
