'I signed because I think we have a chance to win many trophies and enjoy my football' - the Egyptian King's reign continues

THE Egyptian King continues to rule.
Posing on a throne in the middle of the Anfield turf while smiling like a Cheshire cat, it is a wholly appropriate image to confirm Mohamed Salah is staying at Liverpool.
Salah putting pen to paper on a new two-year deal to extend his Reds’ commitment to a full decade brought an end to a contract saga that, if not quite in danger of derailing the campaign under Arne Slot, most certainly was proving an unwanted distraction.
The forward had long made clear his desire to continue at the club.
And with key details of the agreement having finally been thrashed out, Salah now has an opportunity to further cement his place in the Anfield annals.
That, though, isn’t the reason the 32-year-old was so keen to remain a Red.
"I believe the team can win trophies," says Salah. "If I don’t believe that I would have not signed.
"With the support of the fans and the city, and the support they always give us in the games, I believe we can win many trophies in the next years.
"Of course I'm very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team.
"But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
"It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10.
"Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football."
Indeed, Liverpool remain firm favourites to add the Premier League to Salah’s lengthy list of major honours at the club, standing 11 points clear at the summit from Arsenal with seven games remaining.
