Hundreds of sheep swept away by freak flood

A FARMING couple in Wales have been left devastated by a freak flood that swept away hundreds of sheep.

So far 272 bodies have been collected with the total still rising as more carcases are found.

Kiyan Freedom and wife Tetiana are first-time farmers who began building their flock on rented South Wales land in April this year.

Mr Freedom was in a field with his flock on Thursday morning when “water began rising around me” from a nearby river. It was soon up to his waist.

He began diving underwater to retrieve struggling ewes and lambs.
