Huge mains burst now fixed but ‘still 48 hours to restore all supplies’

SOME people in Flintshire may not get water in their taps until Sunday even though a major water mains burst has now been repaired.

Thousands of people have been without water supplies since Wednesday evening after a pipe in Broughton burst.

The pipe had initially burst on Thursday last week, causing a partial road collapse, before a temporary repair was made last weekend.

Dwr Cymru said they had initially planned to “undertake a permanent repair once service reservoirs were fully replenished to avoid any impact on customers”.

However, the temporary fix failed to hold, leading to this week's serious outage.

In an update issued yesterday afternoon, Dwr Cymru said they expected the burst main to be fixed “today”.
