Empathy takes back seat as Wrexham seek victory

PHIL PARKINSON insists Wrexham must be ruthless against Sheffield Wednesday despite feeling compassion for their current situation.

Henrik Pedersen’s Owls sit bottom of the Championship on minus seven points after being deducted 18 points this season by the Football League since entering administration.

During the game between the sides at Stok Cae Ras in August, Wrexham fans showed their support for Wednesday's situation having had to save their own club in the past.

‘And Red Dragons boss Parkinson said: “At Wrexham we've had our own problems historically over the years so our supporters understand what Sheffield Wednesday are going through.

“I think we represented that well when we played them at home. But Saturday is about now, just really focusing on what we've got to do.

“Sheffield Wednesday look like they're coming through the problems with potential takeovers etc and it's a great club with an incredible fan base and they'll be back.”

Despite their opponents’ lowly position, Parkinson warns that his side can take nothing for granted at Hillsborough today.

“I've been there before so it’s never easy, but the focus has got to be on ourselves at the weekend and what we've got to do to maintain our position in the league,” he added.
