Premier outlines KwaZulu-Natal's path to stability

IN A FRANK discussion at Independent Newspapers' offices in Durban, Premier Thami Ntuli firmly articulated that the stability of the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government provided a beacon of hope for residents facing increasingly challenging times.

Emphasising collaboration, he noted that various political parties have united to confront pressing issues affecting communities across the province.

Despite facing severe budget cuts that have hindered the hiring of essential staff across multiple sectors, including healthcare and education, Premier Ntuli assured that the provincial government was committed to finding effective solutions.

"We have a shortage of specialists in healthcare, and in order for us to provide the necessary services, we need more than R500 million to achieve that," he stated, in highlighting the critical need for funding to fill key positions in the province.

During the engagement, the Premier outlined significant challenges facing his administration, specifically referencing budget cuts to the departments of education, transport, and health.
