Democracy as a service to multilateralism

DEMOCRACY is a precious system. It has provided us with incredible opportunities and wealth, but also with war and human suffering on unprecedented levels. In a world exhausted by democracy's failures, is there a Democracy 2.0 somewhere out there?

Listening to Donald Trump, AfriForum, Solidariteit, the uMkhonto weSizwe Party and the hordes of voices that come at us daily, it is obvious that we are on the brink of a massive global systems collapse. Nothing is like it was and never will be ever again. Who would have thought that the US would elect a hateful and incompetent man to become its leader? Who would have thought that South Africa would become a cesspool of unprecedented corruption, on a scale that makes for riveting reality television? Who would have thought that among us live the most racist and vile people who continue to believe in racial stereotypes that place whiteness at the top of their superiority index?
