Weekend thriller fits the Bill for Rovers' exciting youngster

THERE was a point when Bill Leyland feared his Super League chance might never come - and it might not even be worth it all if it did.

- BY DAVE CRAVEN

But the Hull KR hooker certainly isn’t thinking that now as he prepares for Magic Weekend with the competition leaders.

Maidstone-born Leyland won Championship Young Player of the Year when helping London earn promotion in 2023.

But he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in a pre-season friendly last year and missed London's entire campaign with the big boys. But Rovers recognised his promise and brought him in on a two-year deal ahead of this season.

Leyland finally made his Super League bow on loan at Huddersfield last month - but his wretched luck continued as he came on, quickly suffered a head injury and failed a HIA.
