11yrs after avoiding child sex charges, paedo ring member linked to suspect in 1967 killing vanishes & wait for answers continues on...

- BY TOM PETTIFOR

A CHILD abuser linked to one of Britain's most chilling unsolved murders has disappeared.

Raymond Varley, who was jailed in 1975 for abusing boys alongside a paedophile doctor suspected in the notorious Tattingstone Suitcase Murder, has left no paper trail.

Now, more than 11 years after he was spared trial due to a dementia diagnosis, officials cannot even say whether he is alive or dead.

West Yorkshire Police and the Crown Prosecution Service are also unable to say whether he was being monitored by authorities.

With Dr John Byles and Rev John Fairburn Poole, Varley was a member of the "Holy Trinity" paedophile ring centred on a church in Huddersfield, West Yorks. Documents released in 2004 revealed Byles, a former ship's surgeon, was suspected of killing 17-year-old Bernard Oliver along with fellow paedophile doctor Martin Reddington.
