Kneecap star mobbed by fans
KNEECAP star Liam O'Hanna was mobbed by hundreds of fans while appearing at court accused of a terrorism offence.
The rapper, whose stage name is Mo Chara, was granted unconditional bail as he faces a charge of supporting a banned organisation by displaying a flag in support of Lebanese militia group Hezbollah at a gig in London.
Prosecutor Michael Bisgrove told the court: “It’s not about Mr O’Hanna’s support for the people of Palestine or his criticism of Israel. He's well within his rights to voice his opinions and soli-darity, as is anybody else.
“The allegation in this case is wholly different... and deals with a video recording showing Mr O'Hanna wore and displayed the flag of Hezbollah, a proscribed terrorist organisation, while saying ‘up Hamas, up Hezbollah.”
The public gallery was packed with Kneecap supporters, including some who had flown in from around Europe, including Austria.
