WITH his powerful voice and bitingly cynical lyrics, Rick Davies gave an edge to Supertramp's beautifully polished songs.
The keyboard player and vocalist was the founder of the British band whose combination of melodic pop and sophisticated rock made them a huge success around the world.
Rick, who has died aged 81, wrote and sang some of their best-loved tracks such as Goodbye Stranger, Cannonball, Bloody Well Right, and From Now On.
Their other classics include the Logical Song, Breakfast in America, and It's Raining Again.
A band statement said of Rick: "As co-writer, along with partner Roger Hodgson, he was the voice and pianist behind Supertramp’s most iconic songs, leaving an indelible mark on rock music history.
