He says 'we must level playing field' with shops

THE founder of pub giant Wetherspoons has warned a tax divide with supermarkets would remain a huge challenge for inns.

It comes as Chancellor Rachel Reeves plans to unveil a package of relief for the sector, thought to be worth about £300million, to help it cope with the end of pandemic-era support measures.

The plans are thought to involve easing the burden of soaring business rates.
