NHS second opinion win for families
MARTHA'S Rule, which gives worried families and patients the right to a rapid NHS second opinion, has been rolled out in hospitals across England.
Hundreds of patients have already benefited from potentially lifesaving changes to their care due to the phone helplines that were trialled following the death of 13-year-old Martha Mills in 2021.
She was admitted to King’s College Hospital in South-East London after injuring her pancreas in a cycling accident. She later developed sepsis and died.
