Arteta: Late win proves we have title fight

MIKEL ARTETA claimed Arsenal's "unbelievable" last-gasp win over Newcastle showed how desperate they are to beat Liverpool to the title.

The Gunners snatched victory in stoppage time as Gabriel Magalhaes' 96th-minute winner closed the gap at the top to two points after Liverpool's 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Arteta's side were trailing 1-0 until the 84th minute when Mikel Merino cancelled out Nick Woltemade's opener before a dramatic finale at St James's Park, which has not been a happy hunting ground for Arsenal.

Arteta said: "There are moments in the season, and with the style and the difficult fixtures that we had already, today we had the opportunity to close that gap.
