Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has unveiled sweeping changes to the UK's asylum system, saying illegal immigration is “tearing our country apart”.

REGARDING the migration reforms, they do appear draconian and more Reform-lite than they should.

The Home Secretary took no prisoners in her forceful statement, which I found somewhat alienating.

Of course the devil is in the detail but any mindset that immigration taken as a whole is a bad thing is wrong; desperate people often bear the burden of this mass disapproval.

When a Labour Home Secretary is praised by Tories and Reform, it should ring warning bells. If politicians attack the human rights of refugees, our own human rights will be next.
