Pep says player himself must hold his hand up and be honest when time comes to leave City

- BY RICHARD TANNER

PEP GUARDIOLA says fading force Kevin De Bruyne has to be honest with himself this summer.

The Manchester City playmaker is struggling to recapture the form that made him one of the best players in the Premier League over the last decade, raising questions about his future when his contract expires in June.

Belgium international De Bruyne, who will be 34 before next season, has clocked up 745 games for club and country and the years as well as two lengthy injury absences appear to have caught up with him.

Guardiola has already started re-building City's ageing squad but says he will leave a decision with De Bruyne as to whether his body and mind is up for another year in the ultra-competitive Premier League after 10 seasons at the Etihad Stadium.
