BILLIONAIRE Labour backer John Caudwell wants higher tax on online gambling firms, claiming they cause “mayhem in society".

The Phones4U founder also called for more tax on booze and cigarettes.

He wants Chancellor Rachel Reeves and PM Keir Starmer to take a “radical” approach to the public finances, predicting that November's Budget will be “make or break” for the government.

He said measures should include Labour dropping its pledge not to increase taxes on “working people” and increasing VAT by lp.
