US to demand Brit travellers reveal social media history

BRITISH tourists will have to hand over the past five years of their social media history in order to enter the United States.

Donald Trump's administration is preparing to force foreign visitors to give up the information in a sweeping expansion of it surveillance operation.

The requirement, published by the US Customs and Border Protection in the Federal Register, would compel tourists from visa-waiver nations, such as the UK, Germany and France, to disclose their social media handles, email addresses, phone numbers, and details of family members.

The rules could be finalised in as little as 60 days.
