PETER WRIGHT admitted he was less than pleased with his performance despite getting his Ally Pally campaign off to the perfect start.

- BY PATRICK AUSTEN-HARDY

The two-time world champion, who faces Ally Pally debutant Arno Merk in his next match, insisted he must play better if he is to progress further.

Wright beat transgender star Noa-Lynn van Leuven in straight sets in the first round yesterday.

Snakebite averaged just 83.51 in his victory over the Dutch star but his impressive 56.25 per cent on the doubles, compared to Van Leuven's 18.75 per cent, made up for his low scoring.

He said: “My performance was absolutely....I’m not happy with it.
