Van Barneveld calls on PDC to review safety measures after Grand Prix fall left him in shock
PEOPLE'S champion Raymond van Barneveld has called for safer walk-on aisles after a heavy fall, warning: “One misstep and you can break your ankle.”
The five-time world champion landed flat on his back at the World Grand Prix in Leicester before his first round defeat by Gary Anderson two months ago when he stumbled over a gap in the flooring.
Van Barneveld was not hurt, but he wants the Professional Darts Corporation to review lighting and level playing fields on darts’ equivalent of the red carpet.
In his next appearance, at the German Darts Championship, he apologised after shunning the customary signing of fans’ 180 cards or stopping for selfies because he was worried about taking another tumble.
