VAPES are sadly very popular amongst youngsters in the UK.

- Edited by AMANDA EVANS

Walk down any high street and you see countless young girls and boys puffing away on the plastic tubes.

These are usually colourful and have sweet flavours that entice younger people and they seem to be specifically marketed to attract youngsters.

They think it's cool to vape making them feel grownup amongst their pals.

So many vape shops are also springing up everywhere, so the demand is clearly there. We don't need long-term data to know the potential risks. There needs to be an outright ban on all vapes.

Peter Jones, Maidenhead

There is little doubt vaping has taken over in Scotland with children as young as 10 now going straight to vaping for a nicotine hit.

Evidence is growing fast of the dangers of vaping but you don't have to be a scientist to understand any smoke inhaled deep into the lungs will ultimately damage air sacs in the lungs.

The Scottish Government needs to wake up and treat vapes as they do cigarettes.
