EASING THE SUFFERING OF CANCER PATIENTS

When renowned Sri Lankan actor and public personality Cyril Dharmawardana was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, he was fortunate to receive the best care in Australia.
Yet even as he underwent treatment, his thoughts turned to those back home in Sri Lanka-patients facing the same illness but without access to comfort, dignity, or adequate medical care. Witnessing the stark disparity between the two healthcare systems, Cyril dreamt of creating a service that would ease the suffering of terminally ill patients in Sri Lanka, many of whom were forced to endure long, painful journeys by public transport after hospital treatments.
