The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Holy See will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, marking a historic milestone in the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two states.

Archbishop of Colombo Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith President Anura Kumara Dissanayake Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya

To mark this significant occasion, His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Holy See (Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Holy See), will undertake an official visit to Sri Lanka from November 3 to 8 at the invitation of the Government of Sri Lanka and the Catholic Bishops' Conference in Sri Lanka.

During his visit, Archbishop Gallagher will hold institutional meetings with the highest State Authorities, reaffirming the strong diplomatic ties and shared commitment to peace, cooperation, and interreligious harmony between the Holy See (The Holy See is the central governing authority of the Roman Catholic Church, led by the Pope) and Sri Lanka. Courtesy calls are scheduled with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Premier Harini Amarasuriya and Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
