On World Environment Day, observed today (5), it is important to highlight the efforts of Suren Cooke Agencies (Pvt) Ltd, a pioneer in Sri Lanka's pest management industry, who have consistently prioritised environmental sustainability. In recognition of their commitment to integrating eco-friendly practices across all aspects of their business, the company was awarded the Ensystex Sustainability Award for the Asia-Oceania region at Federation of Asia & Oceania Pest Managers Associations 2024.

With this year's World Environment Day theme focusing on the eradication of plastic pollution, the company's in-house recycling facility stands out as a significant initiative. At this facility, used plastic waste is recycled to produce durable, tamper-proof bait stations for termites and rodents. This not only reduces the amount of plastic ending up in landfills and waterways but also supports the livelihoods of over 300 vulnerable individuals, such as local fisherfolk, who collect plastic waste. Approximately 750 kg of plastic is crushed daily for recycling.
