ISA unveils plan to accelerate solar adoption across Asia and small island nations

INTERNATIONAL Solar Alliance (ISA) Director General Ashish Khanna yesterday unveiled a comprehensive plan to accelerate solar energy deployment across Asia and small island nations, positioning the ISA as a central driver of the Global South's clean energy transition.

Addressing the media after a high-level ministerial dialogue involving representatives from across the Asia Pacific, he asserted the urgency of translating widespread electricity access into deep solar adoption, particularly in countries still grappling with technological and financial barriers.

"Asia, home to 4.3 billion people or nearly 60% of the world's population, has made remarkable progress in ensuring electricity access, with coverage now at 97%. However, the transition to solar energy remains largely unfulfilled, especially among smaller and less developed nations, including island States he pointed out.
