CINNAMON Bentota Beach – Signature Selection is set to launch the ‘Signature Weekends’, a series of curated events and immersive experiences designed to celebrate art, culture, and heritage. Powered by HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives as Official Banking Partner, this initiative debuts with a special weekend featuring acclaimed Indo-Canadian filmmaker Deepa Mehta, from 25 to 27 April.

Famous for her visually compelling films, including the ‘Elements Trilogy’ – Fire (1996), Earth (1998), and Water (2005), and ‘Midnight’s Children’ (2012), her connection to Sri Lanka runs deep, with ‘Water’ filmed on the island. She later returned to direct Funny Boy (2020), the original Canadian entry for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars for 93rd Academy Awards, based on Shyam Selvadurai’s book of the same name.
