Bogawantalawa Teas was awarded Best Exporter — Tea (SME) at the Presidential Export Award 2024/25 on 11th December 2025.
The Bogawantalawa Region, globally known as the “Golden Valley of Ceylon,” is celebrated for its ideal terroir and elevation, producing the perfect cup of high-grown Ceylon tea. Its micro-climatic conditions deliver teas with unmatched character. Each sip reflects the region's exceptional ecosystem.
Mr. Almas Marikkar, Director/CEO of Bogawantalawa Tea Ceylon, shared his perspective on this milestone and the journey of Bogawantalawa.
We are truly privileged to be recognized with this award for the third consecutive year. This recognition is particularly meaningful as it reflects a holistic evaluation of our performance across key national export criteria, including timely repatriation of export proceeds, net foreign exchange earnings, market and product diversification, economic value addition, innovation and sustainable practices in tea and packaging solutions. With our world's first climate-positive value chain from plantation, manufacturing, to branding and exports, we have demonstrated resilience amidst both macroeconomic and market challenges. Guided by our Chairman's philosophy, we firmly believe that sustainability is in our DNA. Our core values of trust, commitment and teamwork can be considered the magical links to the respect we've earned.
