Young Elvis hated to sing in public!

Footage shows the star at ease as he rehearses with his singers Dressed in the white jumpsuit as he prepares to electrify his fans Director Baz Luhrmann He looks out across the crowd at his legendary Vegas residency

The star, who grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi, says he felt crushed when he failed to impress at a childhood talent show in Memphis, Tennessee.

He says: "I was about eight and my aunt entered me into a talent show, I had no music and I had glasses and came fifth. It destroyed my ego completely. I would sing in church with my mother and father, but I would never sing in public. I was very shy about it."

The amazing revelation is one of many that movie director and Elvis superfan Baz Luhrmann unearthed while researching his 2022 movie Elvis, which starred an electrifying Austin Butler.

In EPIC: Elvis Presley in Concert, which opens in IMAX cinemas tomorrow, incredible footage can be seen that lay buried in a Kansas City salt mine and hidden for 50 years.

Moulin Rouge visionary Baz, 63, tells us: "This film was a complete accident. While I was making the biopic I heard from someone who said to me there were mythical lost reels I might be able to use.
