Classmate, eight, and woman remain critical
THE eight-year-old girl killed when a car crashed into her school's end-of-term tea party was described as a "shining star" yesterday.
A poignant floral tribute was laid for Selena Lau, who was named by police last night.
Her family released a statement, saying: "Selena was an intelligent and cheeky girl adored and loved by everyone. The family wishes their privacy to be respected at this sad time."
One of Selena's classmates at the private school near Wimbledon Common, also eight, remains in a "life-threatening condition" in hospital, officers said.
Flowers
A woman in her 40s is also critical but a seven-month-old discharged. A been woman arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been bailed pending inquiries.
Some 25-plus bouquets of flowers including roses, lilies and sunflowers and a cuddly toy dog were placed outside The Study Preparatory School.
Friends and well-wishers paying tribute in Wimbledon also included the tennis club chief hosting the championships nearby.
Ian Hewitt, chairman of the All England Lawn Tennis club, said as he laid flowers: "We feel closely associated with the community. What a baby girl has 46-year-old tragic incident - we just offer our heartfelt sympathies to all affected." Another woman, with her arm in a blue sling, left a card with her flowers, saying: "Dear Selena, you will always be our shining star."
