Wanted: £200m scapegoat

KEIR Starmer said this week: “I will lead Labour into the next election.” Which confirms how delusional and totally out of touch this plonker is, because ministers and MPs are now openly plotting against him.

A soft-Left forum called The Tribune Group now says it has the 80 signatures needed to force a leadership contest. And Norwich South MP Clive Lewis has already offered to give Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham his safe seat so he can run for the leadership.

What does it take for Starmer to get that he's finished - an announcement on the BBC? Mind you, with its reputation for fake news, he'd be justified in not believing that!

INSIGHT is a wonderful thing. So is the luxury of spending £200million on a Covid inquiry that tells us nothing we don’t already know and has turned out to be a very expensive Boris-bashing exercise. The ex-PM has been accused of causing 23,000 deaths by not acting fast enough and presiding over a “chaotic response” to the pandemic. Of course it was bloody chaotic. It was unprecedented. The whole world was in chaos.

But there were only two questions this inquiry had to answer - did lockdowns save lives and what do we do if it happens again? And neither have been, which is why Lady Hallett, who’s heading it, should be ashamed of presiding over this monumental waste of taxpayers’ cash.

Instead of the inquiry finding answers, she and her colleagues have used it to slate Boris for doing “too little, too late”.
