BRITAIN could be the next country after Ireland to lose the confidence of the US, warns a report backed by Donald Trump's former national security adviser.

The paper by the Policy Exchange think tank calls for the UK to seek closer alignment with America on trade, defence and foreign policy.

It comes after Sir Keir Starmer split from the US by recognising a Palestinian state. He also faces pressure over the Government's stance on China.
